The Encounter of the Seas forum will hold its eighth edition from May 3rd to 6th, for the first time in northern Tenerife, under the motto 'Blue Natural Capital' to highlight the ocean's relevance.

This event aims to place the ocean at the center of public debate, promoting a vision of the sea as a living, fragile, and crucial heritage for the future. The initiative emphasizes the need to raise awareness about marine conservation and its impact on society.

We must view the sea as a living, fragile, and decisive heritage for the future.

Within the framework of this encounter, the Sartún Award will be presented to a double Olympic sailing champion, recognizing her outstanding career and commitment to the marine environment. This figure of Spanish Olympism has extended her connection with the ocean beyond competition, dedicating herself to raising awareness and defending the environment through a foundation that uses sport as a tool for social transformation.
Among the distinguished participants are the Professor of Marine Sciences Carlos Duarte, scientific director of the forum, and the European head of fisheries policy, Lorella de la Cruz, from the European Commission. Renowned chefs such as the French Alexandre Couillon, Javier Olleros, and the Basque chef based in Tenerife Erlantz Gorostiza will also attend, offering their perspective on the relationship between gastronomy and the sea.
