The investigation began in mid-February, following a significant increase in robberies at businesses in the area. The concentration of incidents within a short period and the use of the same modus operandi, involving forcing entry doors and removing the lock cylinder, alerted authorities.
Police inquiries confirmed the involvement of a known offender in fourteen of these robberies. In four of them, he was assisted by a woman, who acted as a lookout while the man entered the premises.
In most cases, the main target was cash, sometimes even taking entire cash registers. Several bank cards were also stolen, and subsequent investigations confirmed their use by the suspects in various establishments in the area.
“"The concentration of incidents within a short period and the coincidence in the type of premises, the use of the same modus operandi in all robberies, forcing the entrance door and extracting the lock cylinder, was particularly relevant."
Once the alleged perpetrators were identified and sufficient evidence of their involvement was gathered, a police operation was orchestrated, culminating in their arrests on Tuesday, March 30. The detainees were brought before the judicial authority, but after their release, four days later they were linked to five new robberies of a similar nature.
Given this situation, officers proceeded with a second arrest, seizing a safe that the alleged perpetrators had just stolen from one of the establishments. After being presented again before the judicial authority, one of them was remanded in custody.
