The institution is now among the top fifteen in Spain, ranked 747th globally (28 positions higher than the previous edition) and 263rd in Europe (an improvement of 12 places).
This international ranking assesses the research performance of 2,250 leading universities from 105 countries, based on indicators of scientific output, research impact, and academic reputation. ULL stands out for its volume of quality publications, the impact of its research in Europe, and its international collaboration, achieving an overall score of 42.6 out of 100.
In terms of international collaboration, ULL ranks 324th nationally and 426th worldwide. It achieves 438th place in regional research reputation within Europe. The university also excels in specific fields, particularly in Astrophysics, where it ranks 43rd globally with a score of 66.9 out of 100, establishing itself as an international leader in the sector.
In Astrophysics, the University of La Laguna is the second European academic institution with the best research reputation and ranks 122nd globally for this indicator. The study highlights its high volume of scientific output, placing it 17th in publication numbers, 18th in total citations, and 23rd for the percentage of papers among the top 10% most cited worldwide.
The ranking is based on 13 objective indicators. Besides Astrophysics, ULL shows strong presence in other areas: Biology (619th worldwide), Medicine (849th, climbing nearly 100 positions), Environmental Science and Ecology (978th), and Chemistry (1,303rd). In these disciplines, the reputation of its research contribution in the European sphere is particularly noteworthy.
The overall score from U.S. News & World Report is expressed on a scale of 0 to 100. For the compilation of this ranking, the publication collaborates with Clarivate, a company specializing in scientific and bibliometric data analysis.
