The University of La Laguna (ULL) has been recognized for its academic excellence in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, and Education in the latest edition of the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), commonly known as the Shanghai ranking by subject.

The classification, which evaluates universities worldwide across 57 disciplines, places the ULL in a prominent global and national position. In Physics, the Tenerife institution ranks within the 301-400 global band and between 7th and 11th in Spain. This achievement is attributed to the quality of its scientific output and the impact of its research, measured by the percentage of publications in top-quartile (Q1) journals and the citations received.
In Chemistry, the University of La Laguna makes its debut in the ranking, situated in the 401-500 global band and ranking between 9th and 14th in Spain. Its inclusion is particularly supported by the impact of its scientific production, reflecting the reach of the work developed by the institution's research staff.
Regarding Education, the ULL ranks within the 401-500 international range and between the 15th and 19th positions among Spanish universities. In this area, the quality of its scientific output stands out, with a high percentage of publications in top-quartile (Q1) journals.
The GRAS, based on bibliometric data from Web of Science and InCites, analyzes scientific activity from 2021-2025. It combines nine objective indicators grouped into five categories: world-class faculty, scientific production, high-quality research, research impact, and international collaboration, thereby assessing the generation, quality, and international projection of knowledge.
