This initiative, promoted by the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Transfer, aims to foster the scientific careers of young researchers through the development of specific and innovative projects. Funding is provided by the Department of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, managed by the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society.
Eligibility requirements include holding a university degree (licentiate, engineer, architect, or graduate) obtained after September 1, 2021, with an average grade of 6.5 or higher. Candidates must be eligible for admission to a doctoral program at the ULL for the 2026/27 academic year. The maximum duration of the contracts will be four years, extendable up to six years for two positions reserved for individuals with a disability of 33% or more.
Selected candidates will develop a specific and innovative research project while undertaking activities necessary to obtain a doctorate. Additionally, they may collaborate in teaching tasks within the ULL departments for up to 60 hours annually and 180 hours throughout the contract's duration, and will have access to aid from the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Transfer's Own Plan.
Selection will be based on a merit-based assessment. The candidate's academic record (up to 80 points) and the merits of the thesis supervisor and the receiving research group (up to 20 points) will be evaluated by a selection committee.
The application period will be open from July 20 to July 31, 2026, the 10 business days following the publication in the academic center's Official Bulletin. Applications must be submitted through the electronic headquarters of the University of La Laguna.
The planned start date for the predoctoral contracts is October 1, 2026.
