The University of La Laguna (ULL) has decided to suspend exams scheduled for June 12, 2026, corresponding to the July call, to prevent problems for students due to the closure of the North Highway for Pope Leo XIV's visit to Tenerife.

According to a statement issued to the university community, tests initially set for June 12 will be moved forward to the 8th of the same month, maintaining the assigned schedule and classroom. Consequently, the dates for the first call of this examination period will be June 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19, 2026.
The Government of the Canary Islands declared a pre-alert state from noon on Monday, April 27, ahead of Pope Leo XIV's visit, for which a massive mobilization is expected. Traffic cuts are anticipated from early Friday on the lane towards Santa Cruz de Tenerife from La Laguna, and in the afternoon in the Santa Cruz–La Laguna (Aguere) direction. Additionally, exclusive lanes for emergencies and public transport will be enabled, complicating access to university centers.

"The date change is a chain reaction. How will students get to the University of La Laguna on the day of the Pope's visit?"

a university spokesperson
The ULL's decision to move the exams forward responds to an unforeseen situation, particularly the announcements made by the Cabildo de Tenerife regarding the closures on the North Highway. The academic institution has chosen to anticipate potential logistical problems, even though all measures related to public transport, which is expected to be affected, have not yet been detailed.
Regarding the EBAU exams, scheduled from June 2 to 6, the same sources confirm that they will not be affected and will proceed according to the established calendar.
