The event, held at the Recinto Ferial de Las Canales from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, aims to showcase the work of agricultural professionals and bring their labor closer to the public. The fair will feature music by Bienmesabe and Parranda La Laja, alongside traditional exhibitions, a draft animal display, children's activities, and local product tastings.
The mayor of El Paso, Eloy Martín, highlighted the event's trajectory, calling it "one of the most emblematic acts of our festivities and a meeting point for the island's primary sector." He noted that the fair has allowed for the recognition of farmers' work and has supported the growth of the municipality and the island.
Data from the ISTAC shows a 7.4% growth in livestock farms in La Palma in 2025, with El Paso being the Palman municipality with the largest increase, rising from 44 to 53 farms in two years (over 20%). The mayor emphasized the importance of supporting these professionals and ensuring generational succession.
For his part, the councilor for the Primary Sector, Gustavo Concepción, explained that the program maintains the event's signature activities, such as the Garafian shepherd dog exhibition and competition, the blessing of livestock, and the draft animal display. A paella distribution for attendees was also announced.
The fair will begin at 8:00 AM with the arrival of livestock. At 10:30 AM, the Garafian shepherd dog exhibition and competition will take place, followed by the blessing of livestock and draft animal display at 12:00 PM. Music by Parranda La Laja will start at 1:00 PM, along with children's activities. The group Bienmesabe will perform at 2:00 PM, and at 2:30 PM, the farmers' lunch will be held. The trophy awards ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
The 35th Indigenous Livestock Island Fair is organized by the Ayuntamiento de El Paso, the Cabildo de La Palma, the Government of the Canary Islands, and Dinamiza Rural, with the collaboration of Sociedad Cooperativa Volcán de San Juan, AVAPAL, and Cajasiete.
