The International Music Encounter 'Ciudad de El Paso' reaches its twenty-ninth edition, consolidating nearly three decades of history and musical training. From August 21st to 26th, the municipality will bring together renowned performers, composers, and musicians of different generations in a program that connects classical repertoire with contemporary creation.
Among the highlights of this edition are the participation of the Tenerife Philharmonic Orchestra, which will provide the closing performance, and a tribute to José Francisco Climent Tortosa for his teaching career.
Mayor Eloy Martín emphasized that this event “has built over the years a close bond with the cultural life of the municipality and represents a testament to El Paso's commitment to the talent of our artists. Its pedagogical dimension turns music into a tool to train and foster new vocations for the future”.
The Councilor for Culture, Irinova Hernández, notes that “this event continues to position El Paso on the regional and international cultural scene through the multiple expressions of a universal language that unites and inspires us”. She thanked the invited artists, the Municipal Music Band, the honoree, and the institutions for making this edition possible, enabling them to bring cultural richness to residents and visitors.
José Manuel Cerveró Pizarro, director of the Municipal Music Band of El Paso and the Encounter, highlighted that the municipality once again welcomes performers and ensembles with extensive experience, offering high-quality proposals with high interpretive standards, complemented by the talent of young musicians trained on the island, many linked to their Municipal Academy and Band.
The program will take place at the Casa de la Cultura Braulio Martín Hernández and the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Bonanza.
On Friday, August 21st, at 8:00 PM in the Casa de la Cultura Braulio Martín Hernández, violinist Enrique Palomares Chofre and pianist María Lorenzo Lorenzo will present the opening concert, featuring the absolute premiere of Suite en Deux Mouvements by Álvaro Lorente Arteaga, and the first movement of Sonata Kreutzer, op. 47, by Ludwig van Beethoven.
On Tuesday, August 25th, at 8:00 PM in the Casa de la Cultura Braulio Martín Hernández, a concert will be held to honor José Francisco Climent Tortosa, Music Professor at the IES El Paso, for his teaching career.
The closing event will take place on Wednesday, August 26th, at 7:30 PM in the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Bonanza, featuring the Tenerife Philharmonic Orchestra. The program will link contemporary creation and classical repertoire, including the work Érase, a symphonic poem by Jesús Agomar González Guillama, and three arias from Mozart's The Magic Flute. Young musicians such as Eduardo Huertas Feliciano (clarinet), Jesús García Santana (bassoon), Aday González López, and Mario Rodríguez Díaz will participate. The orchestra will conclude with Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 in B♭ major, Op. 60, conducted by José Manuel Cerveró Pizarro.
