The Los Llanos de Aridane City Council has launched the Feminist School, a new space dedicated to training and awareness in gender equality, with the aim of promoting a change in attitudes and values within society.

This initiative, conceived for reflection, seeks to address the diverse social realities of the municipality. Mayor Javier Llamas emphasized the need for a forum where equality is discussed from a close and practical perspective, offering tools to face daily situations.

"In a municipality like Los Llanos de Aridane, with such a diverse social reality, it was necessary to have a space where we could talk about equality from a local perspective. It's not just about training, but about generating conversation, listening, and giving people tools to face real situations."

For her part, Idaira Pérez, Councillor for Equality, explained that the program is designed for everyone, covering topics such as new social needs and the connection between gender violence and access to housing. The goal is to involve men in this process of change.
The Feminist School is presented as an open space for people of all ages and backgrounds, offering training in gender and feminist theory, exploring the movement's evolution, its foundations, and the most relevant contemporary debates.
The activity agenda is varied and includes conferences, theatrical performances, debates, and cultural events. Highlights include sessions on the abolition of prostitution on April 23, the play Desmadre on May 15, a talk on lesbian realities on June 18, and meetings on co-responsibility and masculinities in September and October. The initiative will also promote participation and debate at the island level, with the collaboration of feminist associations and equality activists.
