The celebrations, organized by the Festival Commission with the support of the Candelaria City Council, featured a varied program including sports, cultural, religious, and musical events.
The festivities kicked off with the 3rd edition of Los Lomos Trail, which brought together numerous runners and families with its various routes, children's races, food court, and music festival. The program continued with the Liga de Envite (a card game league) among the municipality's towns and a Saturday night festival with orchestras Wamampy and Revelación.
One of the most significant moments was the return of the 'baile de magos'. On the evening of Friday, October 9th, a romera dinner gathered neighbors dressed in traditional wizard costumes, featuring performances by folklore groups Chajoigo and Igonce, followed by dancing with Xany Recco and Macacos Sound Machine. This reunion revives a tradition deeply rooted in local customs.
Sunday, October 11th, the main day, began with a Eucharist in honor of the Virgen de los Dolores, officiated by Fr. José Ángel Lantz and sung by the Agrupación Folclórica Chajoigo. In the afternoon, children enjoyed a party with inflatable castles and workshops.
At a commemorative event proposed by the Barranco Hondo Community Board, the 65th anniversary of the installation of the church clock in San José was celebrated. The official chronicler, Octavio Rodríguez Delgado, provided a historical overview of the clock's arrival.
A plaque on the church tower acknowledges the town's gratitude to the sons and daughters who emigrated to Venezuela and funded the acquisition of the tower clock, a legacy that continues to mark the hours of the locality.
The festivities concluded with a procession of the image of the Virgen de los Dolores, carried by men and women of the 'trono' (float) and accompanied by the Hermandad del Cristo de la Buena Muerte and the Banda San Miguel de La Laguna. During the procession, two new songs composed by Beni Ramos Torres, Hijo Predilecto of Barranco Hondo, premiered. The event ended with a fireworks display by Pirotecnia Hermanos Toste.
