The main radio stations of the Canary Islands will gather in the municipality to offer a special live broadcast dedicated to the Festivities in honor of the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands. The event will run from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Plaza de la Cruz Pérez and Calle Condes de Abona.
The mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito, highlighted the importance of this event for communication and local festivities. "For nine radio stations to set up their equipment in our streets and work side-by-side for an entire morning says a lot about what these Festivities mean for the Canary Islands, but it says even more about the journalistic profession," she stated. She emphasized radio's virtue in "reporting what happens, asking questions, giving a voice to the local people," and thanked the professionals for coming.
The radio day will begin at 9:00 AM with four stations broadcasting simultaneously. Onda Tenerife will air ‘Mirando al sur’ with Román Luis and Javier Feo; Candelaria Radio will offer ‘El Bucio’ with Gema Tremps, Esteban Martín, and Yaiza Santana; and COPE Canarias and COPE Tenerife will present ‘Herrera en COPE Canarias’ and ‘Herrera en COPE Tenerife’, with Guillermo García. These three programs will run until 12:00 PM. Concurrently, Canarias Radio will broadcast ‘De la noche al día – El Remate’ with Alexis Hernández and Mariam Moragas until 11:00 AM.
Mid-morning, other stations will join the programming. From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Radio Cadena Canarias will present ‘El Peregrino de Las Ondas’ with Alexis Castillo, and Radio Marca will air ‘Directo Marca’ with Joel Rodríguez and Ramón Hernández. During the same time slot, Radio Rumberos will extend its broadcast until 2:00 PM with ‘Llegó la rumba’, hosted by Fran Correa.
At 11:20 AM, Radio Club Tenerife Cadena SER will join with ‘Hoy por Hoy Tajaraste de verano’, hosted by Lucía García. Finally, starting at 12:10 PM, Radio Nacional de España will broadcast ‘Canarias mediodía’ with Sergio de la Rosa.
This initiative will allow listeners from across the Archipelago to experience the festive atmosphere and hear firsthand from those who make it possible, transforming the town's streets into a large radio studio.
