The festive day in Candelaria began early, at 6:30 AM, with the Rosario de la Aurora from the Parish Church of Santa Ana, followed by the procession of the Virgen del Carmen to the Fishing Port.
Upon arrival at the Plaza de Los Pescadores, the Eucharist was celebrated, presided over by Fray Dailos José Melo González, parish priest of Santa Ana, and accompanied by the Agrupación Folclórica Santa Ana-San Blas.
During the transfer of the Virgin to the El Pozo area, the Candelaria City Council presented a plaque of recognition to the group of bearers from the Parish Church of Santa Ana and to Natanaen Jesús Brito Jorge, for their essential collaboration in embarking the image.
“"The Virgen del Carmen is part of the soul of our seafarers, and seeing her arrive accompanied, once again, by those who carry her with such affection is one of the most beautiful sights of our festivals. Thanks to our bearers and to all the people who, from silence and dedication, make this tradition possible."
The program continued with a popular hot chocolate offering, provided by Churrería El Kiosko, and the creation of salt carpets by residents in Calle El Pozo. Musical entertainment was provided by Dixieland Las Candelas.
