The fire, which started early in the afternoon near Candelaria Street, required the immediate mobilization of several firefighting units. The primary objective of the extinguishing efforts was to prevent the flames from spreading to other structures in the urban area.
As a safety measure, local authorities have closed Candelaria Street to both vehicles and pedestrians due to the risk of structural instability. Additionally, the fire caused damage to the local power grid, prompting a request for the utility company to repair the cables and restore normal service.
The Güímar City Council has announced that a technical assessment will be conducted this coming Monday to determine the structural integrity of the abandoned building. Once this expert report is completed, the local administration will contact the owners to decide on the necessary actions.
In a separate incident, security services reported a small brush fire in Las Cañadas del Teide on Saturday. This fire, which affected an area of broom shrubs, was quickly brought under control by firefighting teams without causing significant damage.
