In an unprecedented milestone for local sports, three major football clubs from La Orotava have formalized a historic agreement. The Unión Deportiva Orotava, Florida Club de Fútbol, and CD San Diego are uniting through a framework agreement for institutional and sports collaboration for the 2026-2027 season. The primary objective is to maximize sporting benefits within the municipality, with a direct impact on the training of children and young people.
After years of failed attempts to bridge differences, the current boards have succeeded in establishing a new era of understanding based on mutual respect, transparency, and sporting loyalty. The document emphasizes that cooperation between strong institutions is the "best guarantee for ensuring a solid future for Orotava's football, placing the general interest above any particularity."
The agreement firmly guarantees that none of the entities will lose their identity, history, symbols, or social base. Each club fully retains its legal personality, assets, governing bodies, and economic autonomy. The key points focus on joint actions for the benefit of municipal football during the 2026-2027 season, including collaboration in grassroots football, methodological exchange, training activities, event organization, and promotion of values.
A parity body will be created to periodically evaluate the agreement's development, and efforts will be made to formalize the sporting affiliation of Florida Club de Fútbol with Unión Deportiva Orotava and UD San Diego for the 2027-2028 season, subject to the regulations of the Tenerife Interinsular Football Federation and the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
The agreement, signed this Thursday at the La Orotava Town Hall and presided over by mayor Francisco Linares, takes immediate effect until June 30 of next year and is renewable. It is strictly institutional and does not create financial obligations between the parties, benefiting over 700 athletes.
