The Puerto de la Cruz City Council has seen four public tenders declared void since December 2025 for urban projects considered relevant to the city.

The lack of interested companies or valid bids has halted renovation and refurbishment works in key locations such as the social center El Peñón, the Jacaranda nursery school, and La Vera square.
Regarding the El Peñón social center, lot number 1 of the project was declared void because the proposed winning company could not prove its capacity for health and safety coordination, thus invalidating the offer.
The rehabilitation of the Jacaranda nursery school also remained unawarded due to a lack of valid offers, as the sole bidder submitted administrative documentation not corresponding to the procurement file. Similarly, phase 1 of the urbanization of the square of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, in the La Vera neighborhood, received no proposals.
Another affected project is the transformation of the Chimisay cinema into a multifunctional cultural space, which has gone out to tender twice without success and whose deadline has been extended for a third time until July 30.
These three projects are driven by the Urban Planning department, headed by David Hernández (ACP). Additionally, a project from the Treasury department, led by Pedro Antonio Campos (PP), for the car park in La Constitución square, has also had its proposal submission deadline extended twice without being awarded.
Unless the works for the Chimisay cinema are awarded, these would be four projects stalled since late 2025, despite administrative efforts to launch the tenders.
