The competition, which aims to promote the botanical diversity and the natural and cultural value of these two historic sites in Tenerife, is open to individuals over 18 years of age of any nationality. Interested participants can submit their works until November 30, 2026.
The president of ICIA, Janira Gutiérrez, highlighted the importance of bringing natural heritage closer to citizens through initiatives that combine dissemination, culture, and participation. She noted that the JAO and its Hijuela are "reference spaces for their botanical richness and their contribution to biodiversity conservation."
Photographs, which must be original and unpublished and submitted in JPG format, will compete for prizes including flights to Madeira and to national destinations operated by Binter. The ten finalist images will be part of an exhibition that can be visited at the La Orotava Acclimatization Garden from December 18, 2026, to March 1, 2027.
The jury, composed of representatives from ICIA, the collaborating municipalities, and Binter, as well as photography specialists, will select the works based on their technical and artistic quality and their suitability to the theme. The results will be announced on December 4, 2026.
