Until this Thursday, participants are receiving advanced training in training and accompaniment, as well as in the detection of narcotic substances and obedience. The course is taking place at the municipality's Casa del Emprendedor.
The initiative, promoted by the General Directorate of Studies, Training, and Research in Public Security of the Government of the Canary Islands, has the support of the Los Realejos City Council. The mayor, Adolfo González, and the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Carolina Toste, visited the facilities this Tuesday, September 29th.
The participation of two officers from the Local Police of Los Realejos with their dogs represents a significant step towards the imminent launch of the local police force's own canine unit, a commitment that Mayor Adolfo González described as a near reality.
Taught by experts César Arroyo and Yeray Mesa, the training covers techniques for identification, tracking, and marking of narcotic substances, non-invasive marking, tracking moving individuals, specific searches in productive areas, ordered work systems around vehicles, improving public street control, and laser pointing for detection dogs.
Carolina Toste emphasized the importance of the agent-dog binomial's preparation, continuous training in detection and obedience, and improving teamwork to ensure citizen safety.
