Next September, the Granadilla de Abona City Council, through its Department of Works and Services, will commence the construction of the first modular parking facility of its kind in Tenerife. This strategic infrastructure, located next to the football field annexes on Isla Tenerife street, aims to increase El Médano's parking capacity by 180 spaces and respond to a constant demand from residents, businesses, and visitors.
The project, with a budget of over 2.6 million euros and an estimated execution period of five months, will be developed on a 2,155 square meter plot. It includes a two-level building with a usable flat roof.
Mayor José Domingo Regalado highlighted the importance of this project for El Médano and the municipality, calling it a concrete and modern response to a historical problem. He emphasized the project's innovative nature as the first modular parking lot in Tenerife, featuring a flexible, sustainable, demountable, expandable, and reusable construction system.
For his part, the Councilor for Works and Services, Marcos Antonio Rodríguez, stated that the project's commencement fulfills a commitment made to the citizens. He explained that the modular system's characteristics could allow for its future implementation in other areas of Granadilla de Abona facing parking needs, such as San Isidro and Granadilla casco.
The prefabricated modular system, enabling faster and more flexible installation, aligns with principles of sustainability and circular economy. Its strategic location in El Médano will improve parking availability, reduce pressure on existing spaces, and facilitate traffic organization.
This initiative is part of the Granadilla de Abona City Council's strategy to modernize and improve public infrastructure, incorporating innovative solutions to meet current needs and future growth of the municipality.
