The winery Viñedos y Bodega Altos de Chipude, located in Vallehermoso, La Gomera, has been honored with the Grand Gold Medal in the still white wine category at the Agrocanarias 2026 Regional Wine Competition, for the 2024-2025 harvest.

The wine Pribilo from the Gomera winery was the standout, securing this prestigious award at the competition that recognizes the quality of wines from the archipelago. The contest featured 251 entries from 65 wineries.
The president of the Cabildo of La Gomera, Casimiro Curbelo, praised the quality and prestige of the wines produced on the island, highlighting the qualitative improvement of the wine sector in recent years. Curbelo emphasized that viticultural activity is a key avenue for economic diversification, job creation, and fostering business opportunities in rural areas.
Meanwhile, the island councilor for the Primary Sector, Noelia Morales, reaffirmed the Cabildo's commitment to supporting the primary sector, promoting local products, and enhancing the competitiveness of the island's wineries.
In this edition of Agrocanarias, entries from ten of the eleven Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) regions of the Archipelago participated. The PDO Abona received the most awards with twenty, followed by PDO Islas Canarias with seventeen. PDO La Gomera, represented by three firms, secured one award.
The competition, held on May 13th and 14th in El Hierro and May 19th in Tenerife, presented a total of 71 awards, including 33 Grand Gold Medals and 33 Gold Medals, in addition to five special distinctions.
