The mayor of Tacoronte, Sandra Izquierdo, chaired a working meeting with representatives of the Canary Islands Health Service to discuss the current situation and future projects for the municipal Health Center. Attendees included the director of the Canary Islands Health Service, Adasat Goya González; the manager of Primary Care in Tenerife, Juan José Afonso; deputy mayors, municipal architect Javier Sáinz, and a neighborhood representation from the Association of Users of the Tacoronte – El Sauzal Health Center, led by José Ángel Amador.
The Government of the Canary Islands is modifying the initial project to tender Phase I of the health facility, located on the Carretera General del Norte. These works will allow the completion and operationalization of the northern structure, expanding consultation rooms and connecting them to the already used part. The sanitation and rainwater drainage system, as well as the need for an electrical transformer to meet the real power demand for the entire plot, were also discussed.
With a project adaptation period of two and a half months, the tender process is expected to open in early next year, with the aim of starting the works in the spring of 2027. The previous tender attempt was unsuccessful, attributed to factors such as the complexity of the work, the permanent increase in material prices, and the current market's scarcity of labor.
The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere, emphasizing Phase I as an absolute priority. Fluid dialogue and political-technical contacts will be maintained to monitor the project's progress, which is crucial for the healthcare of Tacoronte and the Northeast Region.
