The incident occurred following a high-speed chase, reaching 170 km/h, by the occupants of a vehicle being pursued by Local Police officers. The pursuit extended to the municipality of Telde.
The chase culminated abruptly when the fugitives' car collided with a National Police patrol vehicle. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported as a result of the impact.
