Young weightlifter Agoney Rodríguez Roque has ranked among the top ten in Europe at the European U17 Weightlifting Championship held in Pristina (Kosovo), securing eighth place in the 85-kilogram category.

The Department of Physical Activity and Sports of the Telde City Council, led by Cristhian Santana Caballero, congratulated the local athlete for his performance. The councilor emphasized that the result "once again places the name of Telde in the international elite of weightlifting" and described Rodríguez's effort as "an example for the youth of the municipality and a pride for the entire city".
In the continental competition, Agoney Rodríguez completed a solid performance with an Olympic total of 272 kilograms. He lifted 119 kg in the snatch, achieving ninth place, and 153 kg in the clean and jerk, securing the seventh best result in his category. These figures allowed him to qualify among the top ten in Europe in all three disciplines.
In the same championship, fellow Telde athlete Aarón Kaue Moreno Tonna competed in the 85 kg category, finishing in fourteenth place with an Olympic total of 236 kg (103 kg in snatch and 133 kg in clean and jerk).
Rodríguez had previously participated in the U17 World Championship in Colombia, where he competed in the 88 kg category due to a registration error. Despite this, he concluded in tenth place worldwide in the snatch with 116 kg.
Santana Caballero added that "from the Telde City Council, we extend our congratulations for this achievement and encourage Agoney and Aarón Kaue to continue their sporting careers with the same dedication and effort they have shown".
