Residents of the El Palmeral area, in the municipality of Santa Brígida, in central Gran Canaria, experienced a notable scare when a considerably sized palm tree fell onto some homes. It was the residents themselves who alerted the emergency services and have expressed their concern, requesting a review of the condition of other specimens to prevent future incidents.
According to available information, the tree fell onto the upper part of a house adjacent to where the specimen stood. It remained leaning, resting on some cables and the roof of the property, which caused moments of unease among the inhabitants of the area.
