Daily allowances for accommodation and maintenance for Canary Islands patients needing healthcare on another island have increased to 145.9 euros, according to a new order published in the BOC.

The Official Gazette of the Canary Islands published this Tuesday an Order from the Ministry of Health that increases by 41.18% the allowances for accommodation and maintenance for patients and their companions who require healthcare assistance on an island different from their place of residence.
This measure, announced by the Ministry of Health in the 2026 regional budgets, will come into effect tomorrow, Wednesday, July 15, after its publication today in the BOC. Patients and their families had expressed concern over the delay in its implementation.
The update, the first since 2018, represents a 62% increase in the accommodation allowance, rising from 65.97 euros to 106.94 euros per person per day. The maintenance allowance grows by 4%, from 37.40 to 39 euros per person per day. In total, the combined daily allowance increases from 103.37 euros to 145.94 euros.
Furthermore, for uninterrupted long-term stays, the maximum amount for accommodation and maintenance expenses payable per person from the third month onwards will be 1,900 euros per month.
