The García San Román pavilion in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria hosts this Saturday the first edition of the school-age artistic roller skating championship, with 130 participants from Tenerife, La Palma, and Gran Canaria.
The 43rd Canary Islands Championships for School-Age Sports are expanding their calendar with the inclusion of artistic roller skating, a discipline making its debut this Saturday in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This novelty represents a boost to the sports offerings for young people in the archipelago.
The García San Román pavilion, located in the Schamann neighborhood, will be the venue for the competition. Around 130 skaters are expected to participate from Tenerife, La Palma, and Gran Canaria, thus consolidating a new space for grassroots sports development in the Canary Islands.
Organized by the Canary Islands Government's Department of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity, and Sports, and the Vice-Ministry of Physical Activity and Sports, the championships continue to grow in disciplines and participation, reinforcing their role in promoting school-age sports.
The competition will run uninterruptedly between 9:00 AM and 8:30 PM. Athletes from various age categories and technical levels will participate, from the initiation level (L1) to the most advanced (L10), in addition to the Solo Dance discipline.
During the event, each participant will perform an individual program adapted to their competition level, combining the technical execution of figures and elements with artistic expression on the rink. A panel of six judges will evaluate the performances using the international Rollart system, assessing both technical and artistic components.
