This initiative is part of the Neighborhood Weeding Plan, which has successfully concluded in the areas of Tinocas and Urbanización San Francisco Javier. Personnel will work from Monday to Sunday to maintain cleanliness.
During the past weekend, cleaning crews worked in Cardones, operating on Párroco Déniz, San Isidro, Manuel González, and Santiago streets. On Friday, work was also carried out in El Matadero and Las Vegas Sport. On Saturday and Sunday, efforts focused on the streets of La Goleta, Angostillo, and Lomo San Pedro.
The Department of Cleaning reports that operators will continue with the tasks of cleaning and removing weeds in other neighborhoods of the municipality, thus ensuring the maintenance of public spaces.
The City Council has previously undertaken actions to ensure street cleanliness. In 2025, 24 tons of hazardous waste were removed in La Punta, following a fine imposed on a company for an uncontrolled dumping of debris and hazardous materials, including asbestos-containing fibrocement panels. Additionally, in April, the Department of Cleaning and Ecoembes launched the campaign 'Recycling is wise' as part of the Arucas Reduce project, aiming to raise environmental awareness and citizen participation in recycling and maintaining street cleanliness.
