A woman has been sentenced by the Provincial Court of Las Palmas to pay a 1,080 euro fine and 5,000 euro compensation to her ex-partner for falsely accusing him of gender violence.

The sentence, delivered in voce by the Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas, convicts the woman who had filed false complaints against her ex-partner at the police station in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The accused must pay a fine of 1,080 euros, calculated as six months at six euros per day, in addition to compensation for the moral damages caused. She also faces subsidiary personal liability in case of non-payment.

"The reduction in the sentence is due to the appreciation of two mitigating circumstances: undue delays and analogous collaboration with the Administration of Justice, as she admitted the facts."

Initially, the Public Prosecutor's Office sought a higher fine, but an agreement was reached that reduced the penalty and included damage compensation. This agreement was accepted by the defense, who will not appeal the sentence.
It has been proven that the defendant, who has no criminal record, filed complaints on December 8, 2022, at the Central Police Station of the National Police Corps in Las Palmas, attributing several gender violence offenses to her ex-partner, including insults, harassment, and physical abuse, allegedly occurring between December 2021 and November 2022.
The complaints initiated proceedings in the Section for Violence Against Women of the Court of First Instance of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which concluded with a provisional dismissal order on March 31, 2023, a resolution that later became final. The Prosecutor's Office maintains that the woman acted with clear knowledge of the falsity of her accusations.
