The National Police have arrested two young men for their alleged involvement in a violent robbery that took place on May 5th at a supermarket in the Tafira neighborhood of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The incident occurred when the hooded assailants, armed with machetes, intimidated the staff and forcibly removed the cash registers. They fled the scene in a vehicle that was waiting outside, which had been previously reported as stolen.
The investigation made a breakthrough on May 11th, when officers from the Local Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria responded to a neighborhood report in La Isleta. During the intervention, officers identified a car that matched the description of the vehicle used in the Tafira robbery.
By linking the car to the crime, investigators were able to identify and arrest the two suspects. Both have been handed over to the judicial authorities on charges of robbery with violence and intimidation, while the investigation remains open to identify any other potential accomplices.
