The event, organized by the Island Council through Fuerteventura Museums, combined astronomical observation with a visit to a site of historical significance. La Atalayita, which preserves over a hundred constructions linked to the island's ancient inhabitants, is set to become Fuerteventura's first Archaeological Park.
Activities commenced in the morning with solar observation and scientific outreach. The highlight occurred at sunset, coinciding with the eclipse's peak obscuration of nearly 72%, offering a unique view before the stars emerged.
The day also included an astronomical photography workshop, observation of Saturn, and scientific outreach activities.
The experience continued into the night with the viewing of the Perseids, taking advantage of the quality of the Fuerteventura sky, recognized as a Starlight Reserve. The event aimed to merge astronomical science with the island's cultural heritage.
