The exhibition, jointly organized by the Municipal Company Gestel and the Culture Department of the Telde City Council, will open on September 11th at 7:00 PM. This artistic proposal invites visitors to delve into the human psyche, emotions, identity, and the relationship with the territory through abstraction.
The show features 25 works, comprising 33 paintings, grouped into eight thematic series: Vanitas, Temperantia, Communitas, Natura, Inter Mare, Ventus, Vulcanus, and Nebula. The artist, known as Blanko (José Blanco Lago), has developed a unique artistic language he calls 'Abstract Symbolism'.
Using form, color, and texture, Blanko conveys concepts and reflections. The series explore themes such as the duality of the ego, inner balance, communities and migratory movements, nature, serenity, the power of the wind, and the volcanic origins of the Canary Islands.
Having resided in the Canary Islands for over two decades, Blanko establishes a dialogue between his work and the insular environment, making this exhibition a journey through the human inner world and its connection to the land.
