The events took place on March 17, 2025, when a group of individuals approached the victim in his private home's parking lot. The alleged perpetrators, who posed as police officers, used a van-type vehicle to intercept the man.
After forcibly subduing the victim, they put him in the vehicle and transported him to an industrial warehouse. There, they held him captive for several hours, resorting to threats and assaults to force him to make a large cryptocurrency transfer. Additionally, they allegedly stole cash and various valuables from him.
Several hours later, the perpetrators abandoned the victim, but not before threatening him again and warning him of the consequences if he reported the incident to the authorities.
Following these events, agents from the Specialized and Violent Crime Unit (UDEV) of the Superior Headquarters of the Canary Islands launched Operation Kripto, which led to the identification and arrest of the seven alleged responsible parties.
After completing the police proceedings, the detainees were handed over to the competent judicial authority. The court ordered the imprisonment of two of them.
