Fire at Telde stonemasonry workshop causes large smoke plume

A fire broke out at a stonemasonry workshop in Telde, Gran Canaria, generating a dense black smoke column visible from several parts of the municipality on Monday.

The blaze started in a workshop in the Caserones Altos area around 5:00 PM. The 1-1-2 Emergency and Security Coordination Center received the alert and dispatched emergency services. The causes of the fire remain unknown and caused alarm among local residents.
Firefighters from Telde and Arinaga, along with volunteers from the municipality's Civil Protection, responded to the scene to extinguish the flames and prevent them from spreading. After several hours of work, around 8:15 PM, the fire was put out, having used approximately 30,000 liters of water.
The consequences of the fire were not limited to the workshop. The flames also reached an adjacent home and garage, belonging to the owners of the affected business. Additionally, a woman had to be evacuated from the scene due to an anxiety attack.
