Spanish biosphere reserves, despite their differences in landscape, culture, and way of life, share a unified vision: seeking a balance between the conservation of their natural and cultural values and the sustainable development of their territories and communities.
To facilitate this exchange and joint work, there is the Spanish Network of Biosphere Reserves (RERB), which brings together the Reserves recognized by UNESCO in Spain. Beyond grouping territories, the Network is a space for meeting, cooperation, and exchange of knowledge and experiences.
This space allows professionals working in the Reserves to share initiatives, learn about different approaches to common problems, and generate useful learnings in various contexts. The Network also facilitates contact between managers, administrations, researchers, and other stakeholders linked to the Reserves, promoting the development of shared projects.
The La Palma World Biosphere Reserve has been part of the Spanish Network since its recognition in 1983. Its participation in this cooperative space allows La Palma to share its own experience and, at the same time, learn about the work being done in other territories.
This shared perspective is one of the fundamental values that make the Spanish Network of Biosphere Reserves a particularly important working space.
