Five Latin sailing vessels have secured their passage to the semifinals following the second elimination round of the La Caja de Canarias Foundation Tournament, held in the bay of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The regatta, contested with 14-knot winds, saw the elimination of three boats: Viajes Insular Arenales Canaluz, DISA Roque Nublo ULPGC, and Minerva Idamar Atlantic. The competition remains fierce, particularly in the race for the final spots in the next stage.
The boat Chacalote Comercial Sanrob, skippered by Adrián Morales, set the best time of the day at 1:12:32, thus securing its lead and qualification for the semifinals. It was followed by Portuarios Puertos de Las Palmas, with Juanjo Díaz, in second place (1:14:20), demonstrating consistency in the competition.
Villa de Agüimes Ybarra, under the helm of Alejandro Rodríguez, also earned its ticket to the semifinals with a time of 1:15:40. Meanwhile, Hospital La Paloma Pueblo Guanche, with Juan Miguel Martínez ‘Timo’, crossed the finish line at 1:16:30, allowing it to continue in the tournament.
The final semifinal spot was decided by a narrow margin. Spar Guerra del Río, captained by Gary Chocho, secured fifth place with 1:17:14, following a key maneuver that allowed it to gain ground on Viajes Insular Arenales Canaluz by just two seconds.
Consequently, Viajes Insular Arenales Canaluz (1:17:16), DISA Roque Nublo ULPGC (1:18:23), and Minerva Idamar Atlantic (1:19:47) are out of the competition.
The semifinals, scheduled for July 18, will feature Chacalote Comercial Sanrob, Portuarios Puertos de Las Palmas, Villa de Agüimes Ybarra, Hospital La Paloma Pueblo Guanche, and Spar Guerra del Río. From this round, the three boats that will compete for the title in the grand final will emerge.
The Canary Islands Latin Sailing activity will continue on July 4 with the seventh round of the Aguas de Teror Championship.
