The prestigious newspaper «El Mundo» has placed the German School of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at the top of the educational rankings, recognizing it as the best international school in the Canary Islands and the eighth best in all of Spain. This achievement, which has pleasantly surprised the institution, underscores the high quality of its education and the solid preparation it offers its students for their academic and professional future.
The classification is based on 27 evaluation criteria, ranging from the educational model and academic offerings to infrastructure and available resources. The center particularly stands out for its periodic evaluation by the German State, which subjects the school to an exhaustive audit every four years, earning it the international quality recognition «Excellent German School Abroad».
The German School operates as a non-profit association under Spanish law, ensuring that its primary focus is not economic. Its strength is further amplified by an extensive international cooperation network and active participation in high-level educational projects such as «Känguru», «Jugend forscht», «Jugend debattiert», and «Jugend musiziert». Additionally, it fosters exchanges with Germany and professional internships, as well as participation in international forums and the MUN project in Stuttgart.
The center's pedagogical organization is carefully structured to adapt learning to the individual needs of students, with a strong emphasis on personalized support. A support team consisting of a psychologist, a social worker, and teachers from Germany reinforces this effort. Academic results are excellent, allowing graduates to continue their studies successfully in Germany, the Iberian Peninsula, and the Canary Islands themselves.
Far from focusing solely on German, the school's educational model strongly advocates for plurilingualism. Students learn and use multiple languages from an early age, with English occupying a fundamental place alongside German and Spanish. In Secondary education, French is also added. The school also serves as an official examination center for the Goethe-Institut and the Oxford Test of English.
The youngest students, in the Early Years and Primary stages, grow in a privileged natural environment with ample green spaces, sports facilities, and a school garden. From the early years, values such as respect, cooperation, and responsibility are promoted, guided by a committed teaching staff, creating an educational environment where the youngest children attend with enthusiasm every day.
