Forward Jesé Rodríguez's future at UD Las Palmas remains uncertain. Despite being the team's top scorer with eleven goals and having been named MVP at La Rosaleda, the Gran Canarian player is awaiting a call from the club to activate his contract renewal. "It's the crest of my life," he stated, showing his deep attachment to the entity.
Jesé, who arrived in July with a promise to score goals and has more than delivered while earning the minimum wage in the Second Division, has been a fundamental piece in the team's third cycle. With 35 matches played, three assists, and the unconditional support of the fans, the player regrets the elimination in the promotion phase. "We were very close to reaching the final, the UD fans deserved promotion," he said, visibly affected after the match against Málaga.
The player's contract expires on June 30th, and to date, there have been no formal contacts to extend his link. "No, they haven't called me," confirms Jesé, who assures he holds no grudges and is proud of his work and dedication. "I'm not the one who sets UD's hiring policy, they know what they have to do," he added, defending his performance against criticism received during the season.
The forward also clarified that his substitution in the 61st minute against Málaga was not pre-arranged. "They would have had to carry me off the field with a tow truck," he asserted, emphasizing his desire to have continued on the pitch. He also praised his teammate Viera, highlighting his importance in the locker room and his possible continuity at the club.
Despite having other proposals on the table, both from national and international football, Jesé's heart seems to be in Gran Canaria. His connection with the Estadio Gran Canaria and the desire to lead UD Las Palmas to La Liga are his main motivations. "Nobody knows how important it is for me to get this team promoted, and I want to do it. But now it doesn't depend on me," he concluded.
