Juan Francisco Hernández Bartolomé, a resident of Telde, won the silver medal at the championship held in Mérida (Extremadura) last Saturday. Hernández completed the race with a final time of 1 hour, 41 minutes, and 15 seconds, securing second place in the national standings. The first position went to Kini Carrasco Ávila, with a time of 1:35:06.
The Spanish Paralympic Triathlon Championship brought together nearly 800 athletes for a weekend dedicated to national triathlon. The event took place in emblematic locations of the Extremaduran capital, utilizing the Guadiana River and the area around the Roman Bridge. Paratriathletes competed in a sprint distance: 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling, and 5 kilometers of running.
Hernández, competing for the Club Deportivo Atletas Sin Fronteras, has confirmed his outstanding national career, adding this runner-up finish to his previous successes in Canary Islands, where he holds the title of PTS3 para-triathlon champion in the supersprint distance.
