The new Center for Continuing Education at the ULPGC will present a total of 11 own degrees and 32 university micro-credentials for the 2026-2027 academic year. The primary objective of this initiative is to agilely address the continuous training needs of professionals in strategic sectors of the Canary Islands.
During the presentation, rector Lluís Serra, vice-rector Soraya García, and the director of the Center for Continuing Education, Cristina Alfonzo, highlighted the boost this offering provides for professional updating in Canarias.
The offerings for the upcoming year include 6 new own degrees, adding to 5 existing ones. Among the new programs are 4 university expert certificates and 2 permanent training master's degrees, focused on postgraduate professional specialization.
“"This offer reinforces our commitment to more flexible, specialized permanent training aligned with the real needs of the Canary Islands."
The new expert certificates cover areas such as Research, Innovation, and Transfer in Education (40 places, on-site), Air and Space Mobility Management (25 places, online), Evolving Labor Relations (25 places, on-site), and Landscape Analysis, Diagnosis, and Management (15 places, on-site). Additionally, Permanent Training Master's degrees are offered in Music Therapy (35 places, blended learning) and Landscape (30 places, on-site).
Five existing own degrees are also renewed, focusing on school nursing, sign language, reliability engineering, physical activity and sports, and tax advisory. In total, the ULPGC is offering 350 places for its own degrees in the 2026-2027 academic year, with enrollment periods open from June to December 2026.
The Center for Continuing Education is also significantly promoting university micro-credentials, a new European model of university training that allows students to pursue personalized learning paths by selecting short courses that can be flexibly accumulated to adapt to their work activities.
For the upcoming academic year, a total of 32 micro-credentials will be offered, with 23 being new additions and 9 being repeat offerings from the current year due to high enrollment success. Notably, 13 micro-credentials are co-offered with the ULL and the Canary Employment Service (semipresencial), focusing on the digital transformation of public organizations, covering new technologies, technical skills, collaborative work, and e-government implementation.
Furthermore, 7 specific university micro-credentials on the Economic and Fiscal Regime of the Canary Islands will be jointly offered with the ULL (online). A micro-credential in Territorial Management of Emergencies and Civil Protection will be provided in collaboration with the Consortium of Emergencies of Gran Canaria and the Emergency Directorate of the Canarian Government (semipresencial). Another new offering is the English for Public Speaking and Dissemination Purposes micro-credential (online), alongside an accreditation in Animal Experimentation, in partnership with the Canarian Foundation for Health Research Institute of the Canary Islands.
The remaining micro-credentials for the 2026-2027 academic year are renewals of courses from the current year that have seen great success, particularly among managers and experts in librarianship, cultural management, and information units. Enrollment for these micro-credentials is also open from June to December 2026.
