The intervention, carried out by the Department of Roads, Works, and Lighting, is part of the municipal plan to modernize public lighting. The new LED technology will enable a significant reduction in energy consumption compared to the previous sodium vapor system.
According to councilor Carlos Díaz, the replacement of the luminaires will result in energy savings of approximately 66%. In addition to reducing consumption, carbon dioxide emissions and maintenance needs will also decrease. The new LED lights will provide more uniform illumination, enhancing visibility for both pedestrians and drivers.
The installed equipment features an automatic intensity regulation system. This mechanism allows for adjusting the lighting level according to the hourly needs of the night, thereby optimizing energy consumption for each time segment.
This project on First of May Avenue is part of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council's initiatives to implement more efficient and lower-maintenance public lighting systems in various areas of the municipality.
