The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has deployed a broad security, prevention, and cleaning operation for San Juan Night, aiming to ensure the safety of the thousands of attendees expected at Las Canteras beach.

Thousands of people are expected at Las Canteras beach to celebrate San Juan Night, one of the most special nights of the year. Given this forecast, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has reinforced security, prevention, mobility, and cleaning measures for the scheduled events.
The special operation will involve personnel from the Local Police, National Police, Civil Protection, Red Cross, and various municipal services. One of the priorities will be to prevent the lighting of bonfires, a practice not permitted in the city. To this end, Civil Protection and the Municipal Cleaning Service, with support from the Local Police's Mediation and Coexistence Unit, will be responsible for locating and removing materials prepared for burning.
The Local Police will deploy the Local Protection and Support Unit (Upal) for the care of minors, and the Operational Intervention and Support Group (Goia-UE) will patrol the promenade. Meanwhile, the Red Cross will have a boat to respond to potential incidents along the coastline.
A Violet and Rainbow Point will be established, serving as an information, advice, and support space for victims of sexist or any other type of aggression, particularly important during the most crowded festival events.
Specific security and mobility measures are planned around the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium and Las Canteras beach, where the institutional act of Honors and Distinctions, fireworks, the concert by Álvaro de Luna, and the subsequent open-air dance will take place. Temporary traffic restrictions may be implemented, including the possible closure of avenues such as Príncipe de Asturias and Industrial José Sánchez Peñate, as well as streets like Castillejos, Simancas, Pavía, and Numancia. Access to El Rincón from the GC-2 highway might also be closed if the crowd concentration warrants it.
The Municipal Cleaning Service and Ciudad de Mar will deploy an operation consisting of 76 workers and 23 vehicles for street cleaning and waste collection between 01:30 and 05:30 on June 24th. Ten ecological islands and 46 additional containers will be installed to facilitate selective waste collection.
The City Council recommends using public transport and following the instructions of security and emergency services to best enjoy the night.
