This measure was detailed in the municipal plenary session by the Councilor for Presidency, Finance, Modernization, Human Resources, and Water, who explained the facilities the local corporation will provide to citizens to address the new tax.
According to a statement issued by the City Council, residents can request payment in installments, provided the request is made within the voluntary payment period specified in the notification. The minimum monthly fee established is 30 euros, and payment must be made via bank direct debit.
From 2027, when the fee is managed as a periodic register receipt, it can be integrated into personalized payment plans such as LPA Pago Fácil, allowing its division into up to ten monthly installments.
Notifications of assessments will begin to be sent out starting next June. Since 2026 is the first year this fee is applied, each taxpayer will receive an individual assessment with the essential tax data, including the tax base, quotas, and total amount.
However, as this is the first inclusion in the register, this initial assessment cannot be direct debited or automatically integrated into personalized payment plans, as it is considered an isolated act and not a periodic receipt. Payment can be made through the Virtual Tax Office, the municipal website, or at collaborating bank ATMs using a barcode.
The City Council has reminded that it had already foreseen various measures to facilitate payment and ensure equity in the application of the fee. These include bonuses for individuals and family units in vulnerable situations, large families, and benefits linked to recycling and proper waste separation.
In February, the Council published informative guides in the Virtual Tax Office for citizens to understand the tax, its application, and the reductions contemplated in the Fiscal Ordinance. The Waste Collection, Transport, and Treatment Fee is being applied this year in compliance with Law 7/2022, on waste and contaminated soils for a circular economy, derived from European regulations.
