The General Negotiation Board of the Telde City Council has achieved significant progress in the working conditions of the Local Police, with improvements in working hours, permits, and productivity.

The General Negotiation Board for the permanent staff of the Telde City Council has held a working session that concluded with important advances in the negotiation of working conditions for the Local Police. The Administration's initial proposal has been enhanced with numerous improvements.
The meeting was attended by the mayor, Juan Antonio Peña; the Councilor for Human Resources, Carmen Batista; the Director General of Human Resources, Mercedes Cejudo, and union representatives from CSIF, CCOO, UGT, and Intersindical Canaria. After approving the minutes of the previous meeting, the agreement proposal on organizational aspects, working hours, training, productivity, and compensation was addressed.
The system for summer and Christmas work schedules has been improved, establishing specific compensation for officers who cannot enjoy the seven-day rest period due to service needs, particularly for the night shift. Furthermore, the elimination of limitations on the enjoyment of personal days and paid leave has been approved, allowing their use on any day of the week and any shift, including weekends and holidays, provided service needs permit. Night shift officers will also benefit from this equality in exercising their rights.
Regarding productivity for special Christmas operations, the initial proposal was expanded to include new days of special activity and improve remuneration concepts, aligning them with those of other police forces in the Canary Islands. This productivity will recognize the increase in police activity due to higher attendance, large-scale events, increased mobility, traffic and security operations, and extraordinary measures associated with the reinforced anti-terrorism alert level.
In terms of training, an annual credit of 40 hours for voluntary training related to police functions has been established, and time spent on travel for in-person training outside ordinary working hours is recognized, facilitating professional development without compromising work-life balance.
Points concerning singular remuneration and the future Regulatory Agreement for the Working Conditions of the Telde Local Police for 2026 were postponed to a future meeting, with the aim of reaching a broad agreement.
Mayor Juan Antonio Peña positively assessed the outcome, highlighting the recovery of rights and the improvement of working conditions for a body essential to the city's security. He thanked the constructive dialogue and tone of the negotiations, especially recognizing the union organizations that have opted for agreements benefiting the entire staff.
