The Local Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has reported a significant number of infractions related to Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMVs), specifically electric scooters, in the San Telmo Park area of the Canarian capital.

The violations, detailed by the police force through their social media channels, encompass various behaviors. These include speeding, two people riding on a single vehicle, circulating in pedestrian zones, and lacking mandatory insurance.
The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) states that, while each city council has the authority to specifically regulate the circulation of PMVs, all users must comply with a series of minimum conditions. These regulations prohibit electric scooters from circulating on sidewalks, pedestrian areas, crossing points, highways, interurban roads, or tunnels within urban areas.

Furthermore, the DGT specifies that the authorized routes for these vehicles must be indicated by a municipal ordinance. In the absence of such an ordinance, circulation is permitted on any urban roadway. Regarding speed, national regulations set a range of between 6 and 25 kilometers per hour for PMVs.
