José Antonio Redondo, from Tenerife Bike Point–La Sede, has taken the lead in the XXX Tour of Northern Gran Canaria after the second stage, which ran between Agaete and Teror.

The second stage of the XXX Tour of Northern Gran Canaria, a 75.7-kilometer route between Agaete and Teror, marked a turning point in the general classification. The medium mountain stage toughened the race and crowned a new leader: José Antonio Redondo (Tenerife Bike Point–La Sede).
The stage victory went to Aimar Quintana (Eiser–Hirumet Team), who crossed the finish line in Teror in 2:05:00. Redondo and Alejandro Paredes (El Bicho–Plataforma Central) arrived with the same time, taking second and third place respectively.
Despite Quintana's win, the biggest beneficiary of the day was Redondo. The veteran rider, with previous professional experience, managed the stage and bonuses effectively to take the lead with an accumulated time of 2:29:00. His advantage over Quintana is minimal, just four seconds, leaving the overall standings completely open.
In the battle for the podium, Ricard Fito (CCLLEIDA_DPEDROS) is third at 51 seconds, followed by Jon Zuburruti (Eiser–Hirumet Team) at 54 seconds.
On the local front, Gran Canaria–EKD Bike Team showed a clear improvement, finishing sixth in the stage's team classification. The rider from Telde, Daniel Lado, stood out as the best Canary Islander in the race, earning the regional leader's jersey and climbing to 25th overall.
The Tour will conclude this Saturday with the third and final stage, starting at 09:00 from Plaza Santa Ana in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and finishing in Arucas after 90 kilometers. The route, featuring numerous short climbs and technical roads characteristic of the island's north, is ideal for attacks and changes in the standings.
