Santa Brígida will host the Mendi Tour Canarias for the fifth consecutive year in 2026, consolidating its commitment to mountain culture. The event will take place on Friday, October 9th, starting at 8:00 PM, at the Cultural Center of the Villa. Admission will be free until full capacity.
This edition's program will feature four outstanding productions from Mendi Film, an international festival specializing in mountain cinema, adventure, and extreme sports. These works will offer diverse perspectives on the human relationship with mountains, exploration, risk, and sporting challenges.
The screening will begin with “Eternal Solo,” a 31-minute production included in the Official Section of Mendi Film 2025. It will be followed by “Billy,” 33 minutes, also from the Official Section. The program will continue with “Izarren Zaunka,” 18 minutes, recognized as Best Film in Euskara at Mendi Film 2025, and will conclude with “Trango,” a 45-minute production also in the Official Section.
The films will be shown in their original version and, where applicable, with Spanish subtitles, allowing the audience to enjoy stories from different places and cultures united by the common theme of the mountain.
Complementing the cinematic offering, the Gran Canaria Mountaineering Group will present a photographic exhibition at the Municipal Library of Santa Brígida, which can be visited from September 9th to 30th. This exhibition aims to bring the mountain closer from another perspective, through images related to the group's activities and trajectory, and to an understanding of mountaineering that is part of the island's sporting and social history.
The celebration of the Mendi Tour reaffirms Santa Brígida as a meeting point for mountain culture in Gran Canaria, offering an opportunity to collectively enjoy stories that transport viewers to great walls, remote landscapes, and settings where adventure and nature form part of the same experience.
