The project completely transforms this municipal logistics center, which houses essential machinery, vehicles, and materials for the municipality's maintenance and construction work. The complex comprises a 1,105 square meter warehouse, a 106 square meter mechanical workshop, a pump room, a 48 cubic meter cistern, and a 15,000 square meter outdoor yard.
A key aspect of the renovation was replacing the asbestos roof with a new metal roof featuring rock wool thermal insulation and a 130 kW self-consumption photovoltaic plant. This system will generate clean energy for municipal facilities and reduce consumption from the grid. The generation capacity far exceeds the warehouse's needs (10-15 kW), with surplus energy allocated to other public facilities such as the Market, IES Sataute, and the City Council itself, thereby reducing energy costs and the municipality's carbon footprint.
The modernization also incorporates an electric vehicle charging point with two outlets, adapting the facilities to the progressive electrification of the municipal fleet. The intervention, with an investment of 1.1 million euros, has renewed all infrastructure, including plumbing, power, air conditioning, and extraction systems, as well as flooring, fencing, and heavy-duty shelving. The surrounding area has also been reorganized, with improved material storage zones and parking arrangements to enhance the overall functionality and safety.
Furthermore, disused underground fuel tanks have been dismantled and removed. The project was executed by Construplan, Construcciones y Planificación S.L.U., and is part of the Insular Program for Socioeconomic Development of Gran Canaria, promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria in collaboration with the Santa Brígida City Council.
