The Department of Security and Traffic of the Santa Brígida City Council has presented the balance of actions carried out within the Municipal Plan for Repainting and Maintenance of Road Signage. These works, which comply with technical road specifications, aim for continuous improvement of the infrastructure and reinforcement of safety for all road users.
Since May 2024, more than 15 kilometers of road lines have been repainted, including continuous, discontinuous, stop lines, and road edge lines of various widths, as well as pedestrian crossings and other markings.
Additionally, over 700 horizontal road markings have been implemented, such as STOP signs, yield signs, speed limits, directional arrows, and traffic calming markings. In terms of vertical signage, more than 350 signs of different types, including danger, informative, and prohibitive signs, have been installed or refurbished.
The plan is complemented by the installation of approximately 200 signaling beacons, 175 cat's eyes, and about 150 meters of metal safety barriers. Speed reduction bumps have also been installed at various strategic points.
The Councilor for Security and Traffic, Adrián Camacho, emphasized the importance of constant preventive action in road safety, integrating citizen requests and recommendations from the Local Police. "Road safety requires constant action and cannot be limited to intervening only when a problem arises," he stated.
The work has been carried out using high-durability reflective acrylic paint, employing specialized machinery and airless systems to ensure improved visibility in low light and at night, while providing high resistance to abrasion from road traffic.
Through these interventions, the Santa Brígida council reaffirms its commitment to the permanent maintenance of the municipal road network and the enhancement of its safety conditions, acting progressively in different neighborhoods and addressing both detected needs and citizen demands.
