The Children and Adolescent Participation Body (OPIA) of Santa Brígida, comprising 42 children, girls, and adolescents from the municipality, will begin its work sessions on September 26th. This stable forum aims to ensure their real participation in matters affecting their lives and the development of the municipality.
Promoted by the Department of Social Services, led by Carlos Carrión Marrero, the OPIA was established on April 10th. The event was attended by representatives from educational centers, social entities, municipal staff, and political representatives, highlighting the importance of coordinated work on childhood and adolescence issues.
With the start of these sessions, the Santa Brígida City Council reinforces its commitment to the rights of children and adolescents, establishing a body for young representatives to actively participate in municipal life.
For the facilitation of the sessions, the Council has partnered with OXIA, an entity specializing in the facilitation and support of children's and adolescent participation bodies. This collaboration will extend until June 2027, supporting the OPIA's work lines and advancing the I Local Plan for Childhood and Adolescence of the Villa de Santa Brígida.
This process will foster collaboration between the local administration, educational centers, social entities, and families, with children, girls, and adolescents as the central protagonists.
The effective launch of the OPIA represents a significant step forward in Santa Brígida's childhood and adolescent policies, consolidating its commitment as a Child-Friendly City.
