A shearwater was rescued after becoming trapped 22 meters high in an electrical power line in the Quintanilla area of Arucas, in an operation that lasted over seven hours.

The intervention, carried out last Sunday, required the collaboration of Endesa, through its network subsidiary e-distribución, operators from the company Ametel, Arucas firefighters, and the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium. A special crane was needed to reach the bird, which had one of its wings entangled in the wiring.
During the rescue, Endesa's Control Center in the Canary Islands cut the power supply to the affected line to ensure the safety of both the animal and the rescue teams. Once freed, the shearwater was handed over to personnel from the Wildlife Recovery Center of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, who confirmed its good health. After a veterinary check, the bird was released back into its natural habitat.

"The meticulous work carried out by all intervening teams, and we are glad that today one more shearwater can soar through the skies of the Canary Islands."
