Telde's former Urban Planning councilor, José Luis Mena, who was implicated in scandals such as the Faycan case during his tenure, has expressed his intention to rejoin the municipal office starting July 1st.

Despite the grim memories associated with his time at Telde City Council, marked by the Faycan case (2003-2007) and joint management with Ciudadanos por el Cambio (Ciuca) and the Partido Popular, José Luis Mena is considering a return to the Urban Planning department. This comeback would occur after he has served his prison sentences and, theoretically, completed his rehabilitation.
The news of his potential reincorporation comes at a time when the same parties that governed during those 'dark' years are once again leading the municipal corporation. Mena's decision to return to local administration, where he previously held a significant position, has caused surprise, especially given that he currently operates a thriving urban law practice.

I asked him about the reasons for wanting to return to the scene of the crime, with the grim memories he must have of those years in those municipal offices; with a prosperous urban law firm fully operational and with hundreds of eyes on his back to see what he intends to do there.

The term during which Mena was involved was particularly controversial, with the then-mayor and several councilors arrested in a series of incidents that, according to the original text, seem to have been forgotten by the citizens of Telde two decades later.
